Audio processing is done locally in your browser. No audio data is sent to our servers during the recording or sound bank playback process, except for the initial loading of the application files.

Settings (volumes, device selections, Bank A sound names/files) are stored locally in your browser's Local/IndexedDB Storage. Clearing your browser data may remove these settings. Bank A sounds are limited to 1MB each. Bank B sounds and actual audio files are NOT stored and must be re-selected each session.

Live monitoring routes microphone audio to your speakers/headphones; using headphones is strongly recommended to prevent audio feedback.

MP3 export uses client-side encoding (lamejs) which may be slow for long recordings and requires the library to be included correctly.

Help & Keyboard Shortcuts

General

• Initialize Audio Devices: Click this button first to enable microphone and output selection.
• Microphone / Output Select: Choose your desired audio input and output devices.
• Monitor Mic: Check this box to hear your microphone input through your selected output device (use headphones to avoid feedback).

Recording

• Start/Stop Recording: Toggles recording on and off.
• Pause/Resume: Pauses or resumes an active recording.
• Test Levels: Enter a mode to adjust your Mic, Sound FX, and Master volumes without recording. Click "Set" to save these as your preferred levels. "Re-Load" will restore these set levels.
• Filename: Double-click the prefix (e.g., "podcast_") to edit it. Enter a suffix for your recording.

Sound Banks

• Load Sound (Folder Icon): Click to load an MP3 file into a sound slot. Bank A sounds are saved in your browser; Bank B sounds are for the current session only.
• Sound Name: Click to edit the name of the sound.
• Play/Stop Buttons: Control playback of individual sounds.
• Fade Other Sounds: If checked, playing a new sound will fade out any other currently playing sounds.

Output

• Preview: After recording, a waveform preview will appear. Use the controls to play, stop, and adjust volume.
• Save .webm / Save .mp3: Download your final recording. MP3 encoding may take some time.

Settings

• Export/Import Settings: Save or load your application settings (volumes, device preferences, Bank A sound names) to a file. Bank A audio files themselves are stored in your browser's local database and are not part of the settings export.

Keyboard Shortcuts

• Spacebar: Start/Stop Recording.
• A-H / 1-8: Play/Stop corresponding sound slot.
• ?: Open/Close this Help modal.
• Escape: Close active modal (Help, Disclaimer, Feedback).
